Over $1.5 million Raised During Wish-A-Mile Bike Tour for Wish Kids
What an exciting weekend it has been! The 37th annual Wish-A-Mile Bicycle Tour turned out to be a spectacular event, with cyclists and volunteers coming together to make dreams come true for critically ill children. This noteworthy event, held in our lovely city, witnessed people pedaling for a heartfelt cause.
Braving the challenging 300-miles stretch, nearly 400 cyclists rode not just for fun, but with the purpose of turning wishes into realities. Each rider undertook the remarkable journey holding a tangible reminder of their motive – a medal with the name of the wish child they were riding for. These wish kids became the heroes for their dedicated riders.
That’s not all! The tour turned out to be a marvelous fundraising success too! A mind-blowing sum of over $1.5 million was raised during the event. Proving once again that city folks are all about charity and turning dreams into realities. The amount accumulated is earmarked for Make-A-Wish, which is renowned for fulfilling the most heartfelt wishes of children diagnosed with critical illnesses.
So what does this mean in real terms? This substantial amount can grant as many as 500 wishes, considering that a single wish’s fulfillment costs around $10,000. Depending on the individual wish, dreams ranging from meeting beloved celebrities, exploring enchanting destinations, to experiencing dream jobs can now come true.
A massive round of applause to all you cycling enthusiasts out there! Your physical strength and loving hearts have truly made a difference for so many awesome kids.
Just in case you missed out on joining the tour this year, there’s no need to worry! There’s plenty we can do to contribute to this worthy cause. The easiest way? Direct donations through Make-A-Wish’s website. Check it out to see how you can make a difference!
