As the mercury drops dangerously low, the city of Farmington Hills is opening its doors to help community members facing the frigid temperatures. Starting from 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4, warming centers will be available for those who need a cozy place to escape the cold.

Your Warm Havens: Where to Go

There are two key locations set up for this purpose:

• Fire Station #5/Fire Headquarters
  Location: 31455 W. 11 Mile Road
  Hours:
  – 5 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 4 to 7 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 5.
  – 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5 to 7 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6.
• Costick Activities Center
  Location: 28600 W. 11 Mile Road
  Hours:
  – 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 5
  – 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6.

The city officials have highlighted that these hours may be extended if the weather conditions warrant it. So, keep an eye out for any updates!

What’s the Weather Got in Store?

The National Weather Service has issued a cautionary note for the area. They’re expecting some brief but intense snow showers on Wednesday evening. Residents should prepare for an accumulation of about 2-3 inches by the break of dawn on Thursday.
