Sponsor Our ArticlesWest Bloomfield – The annual Walk4Friendship event is all set to make a grand return to the streets of West Bloomfield on September 1st. Now in its 19th year, the free-of-charge event promises a lively mix of fun, games, and heartwarming goodwill.
Walk4Friendship, hosted by the Friendship Circle, a non-profit organization that provides services to children and young adults with special needs, is consistently one of the largest summer events of the township. In the previous year, the event drew an impressive crowd of between 2,000-3,000 folks, underlining its popularity.
Beyond entertainment, the event serves as the Friendship Circle’s principal fundraiser. Last year saw a record-breaking collection of more than $900,000, an exciting development that has put the ball rolling for an even bigger goal – raising $1 million this year!
Activities like games, live entertainment, food stalls, interactive booths, scavenger hunts, face painting, pet zoos, and rides form an integral part of the event, promising something for everyone. For music lovers, an exhilarating performance by American-Israeli hip-hop artist Nissim Black is a highlight to watch out for.
Moreover, Walk4Friendship is an excellent opportunity to create widespread awareness about the mission of the Friendship Circle and the enrichment brought to the community by individuals with special needs.
The walk commences at 11:45 a.m. from Friendship Circle’s Farber Center, covers a distance of approximately 1.7 miles, and ends at the Meer Center. A shuttle is also planned for individuals who may not prefer to walk, leaving from the Farber Center about 15 minutes after the walk begins and heading to the Meer Center.
