Hey there, Troy! As we cozy up for the fall season, there are tons of exciting events happening this November. Whether you want to dive into community service, enjoy some good food, or get involved with local nonprofits, there is something here for everyone. Let’s explore what’s in store!
First up, the American Red Cross is hosting Blood Drives at the Troy Community Center! Mark your calendars for November 11th from 1-7 p.m., and again on November 15th and 18th from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. There’s also a drive on November 22nd from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and one more on November 25th from 1-7 p.m. Donors are needed, and it’s super easy to schedule your appointment by calling 313-300-9617 or visiting their website. Just remember, you need to be at least 17 years old, weigh over 110 pounds, and be in good health to donate!
If you’re passionate about nonprofits, the Annual Troy Chamber Nonprofit Management Conference is happening on November 13th from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Walsh College. The event will feature Kelley Kuhn, the president and CEO of the Michigan Nonprofit Association as the keynote speaker. Tickets are affordable too—only $50 for students and $75 for chamber members. It’s a great opportunity to learn, network, and support nonprofits!
Don’t miss out on “Step Up to the Plate” from November 3rd-8th. Dine at participating local restaurants and support our Troy schools! Just turn in your receipts to the school of your choice to make your meal count. Speaking of dining, there’s also the Harvest Dance on November 9th at Bonadeo Farms. This fun event includes a BBQ dinner, dancing, and a tribute to veterans. Get your tickets and enjoy a great evening!
Several charity events are taking place this month as well. The Youth Community Agency is hosting their Gatsby’s Charity Affair on November 9th in Detroit to support local teens. The cost of entry goes to a great cause and includes entertainment and a silent auction. Want to make a difference this holiday season? Consider donating your leftover Halloween candy at the Medical Weight Loss Clinics, which are collecting treats until November 9th to help Gleaners Community Food Bank.
Art lovers, you won’t want to miss the Miracle at Meadow Brook event hosted by Paint a Miracle on November 13th. This will feature unique artwork from talented local artists available for viewing and purchase. Or, immerse yourself in the celebration of 40 years of the Zekelman Holocaust Center with their anniversary benefit dinner on November 10th in Detroit, featuring keynote speaker Mitch Albom.
Let’s not forget Veterans Day! On November 11th, Oakland County Parks and Recreation will offer free park entry to honor our veterans. This means you can explore our beautiful parks and trails without any cost! Additionally, there will be a family-friendly Night Hike and Campfire event on November 4th at Bloomer Park, perfect for enjoying the outdoors and making s’mores!
Lastly, if you’re in the mood to shop and have a little fun, check out the Downtown Rochester Holiday Expo on November 11th. This event is free and packed with holiday ideas from over 60 local businesses! And for those looking to expand their knowledge, the Salem-South Lyon District Library is hosting an event about digital services on November 6th. It’s a great chance to learn about e-books and other resources available to you.
Troy, let’s come together this November! With all these amazing events, there’s no reason to stay home. Join in, support our local community, and have a great time!
