A recent study from the consumer research platform Attest reveals that around two-thirds of Americans, or roughly 66.7%, have taken the plunge and used generative AI tools at least once. This growing popularity comes with a significant boost in trust. Approximately 70% of those surveyed expressed confidence in the information generated by these innovative tools, which is a promising sign for technology enthusiasts and casual users alike.
Curiously, the trust level in generative AI seems to mirror that of traditional search engine results, whether they’re organic or paid. This similarity brings a sense of familiarity, making it easier for people to embrace generative AI in their daily lives.
So, what are people actually doing with these generative AI tools? Well, generative AI is often viewed as a personal assistant. About 49% of Americans say they’re likely to use it to help with research for purchases, which is a great way to make informed buying decisions. Then there’s the 40% who turn to AI for answering burning questions or explaining complex topics they find puzzling. And let’s not forget the approximately 33% of users who rely on AI as a study aid, proving it can be quite the academic ally. Additionally, more than 25% utilize these tools for creative endeavors such as generating ideas or drafting letters and emails.
Looking ahead, it seems that enthusiasm for generative AI isn’t going away anytime soon. A notable 57.4% of respondents indicated that they expect to incorporate generative AI into their routines even more over the next six months. Conversely, only 5.1% reported plans to scale back their usage.
Another encouraging trend is the increased trust in the companies behind these AI tools. A reported 35% of consumers now trust the handling of their data, which shows a 4% increase from last year. People seem to feel more comfortable with how their information is managed in this digital age.
When it comes to brands, more consumers are beginning to recognize the potential benefits of using AI in marketing campaigns. A survey revealed that 38% of people acknowledge that AI can aid in crafting more creative advertising. This is a slight uptick from 34%% just a year ago, indicating that as people grow more familiar with AI, they start to see its advantages.
While generative AI is on the rise, traditional search engines are still holding their ground. About 56.6% of those surveyed plan to stick with traditional search methods over the next six months, and 27.4% are even looking to use them more. However, it’s worth noting a report from a content licensing platform that found AI search engines are sending an astonishing 96% less referral traffic to news sites compared to their traditional counterparts.
In the realm of digital marketing, 80% of all web traffic is now comprised of bots, which has risen by 7% from last year. This phenomenon has led to wasted digital ad spends and raises interesting questions about how marketers can engage effectively with actual consumers.
As generative AI continues to establish itself in our daily routines, it’s clear that both trust and utility are flourishing. From assisting with purchase decisions to providing creative support, these tools are making waves. The future looks bright for generative AI and its place in our tech-driven world!
