Wixom, Michigan – A community is in shock following a tragic accident that took place in Wixom this past Tuesday. A 59-year-old woman from Novi lost her life in a heart-wrenching chain of events that began when her vehicle was struck during a three-car crash.
The crash occurred shortly after 10 a.m. on October 3, on South Wixom Road, near Sam’s Way, just south of Grand River Avenue. Reports indicate that the Novi woman was driving a Honda CR-V and had come to a stop in traffic behind a Ford F350 truck driven by a resident of Wolverine Lake. Unfortunately, a 94-year-old man from Milford Township, who was behind her in a Nissan Versa, failed to notice the stopped vehicles in front of him.
In a terrible turn of events, the man’s vehicle slammed into the rear of the Honda CR-V, causing it to lurch forward into the Ford F350. This jarring impact prompted the woman to exit her vehicle, where she stood near the driver’s door.
Just as she was assessing the situation, the Nissan Versa accelerated unexpectedly, striking the Honda again and tragically running over her. Witnesses reported a gasp from onlookers as the events unfolded, feeling helpless as they watched the horror of the moment. The woman became trapped beneath the Nissan, which eventually came to a stop just a short distance from where the collision occurred.
Emergency services quickly arrived at the scene and transported her to Ascension Providence Park Hospital in Novi. Sadly, despite the best efforts of medical personnel, she succumbed to her injuries, leaving friends and family devastated.
Authorities are conducting a thorough investigation into the factors that led to this unfortunate accident. While the Oakland County Sheriff’s crash reconstruction unit is assisting Wixom police, they have reported that it remains unclear why the Milford resident accelerated after the initial impact. As of now, there is no indication that the action was intentional. The surviving drivers are cooperating fully with the investigation, providing their accounts of the tragic day.
Police also confirmed that neither drugs nor alcohol appear to have played a role in the incident. Fortunately, the drivers of both the Ford F350 and the Nissan were not injured during this harrowing event, but they, like many others in the community, are grappling with the emotional aftermath of the accident.
As news of the accident spreads, the community of Wixom and surrounding areas are left in somber reflection. Friends and family of the woman are mourning a beloved member of their lives, while residents grapple with the reality of how quickly life can change.
Authorities have indicated they will keep the public updated as the investigation progresses, and details become clearer. In the meantime, many are finding solace in coming together to support one another and remembering the life of the woman who is loved and missed.
Stay tuned for further updates on this emotional story, as we strive to bring more details about this unfortunate event to light, offering insights into the causes and responses surrounding it.
