Hillsdale County, MI– A devastating car accident tragically ended the life of a two-year-old toddler in the Allen Township in Hillsdale County late Friday night. The toddler is reported to have been struck in the 200 block of Chicago St.
According to Michigan State Police First District reports, troopers were dispatched to the crash scene at approximately 8:20 p.m. on Friday night. Upon their arrival, they found a two-year-old female laying in the street. A nearby first responder was already performing medical interventions in an attempt to save the child’s life. Surges of panic and desperation filled the air as the officers joined in on those efforts until emergency medical crews could arrive on the scene.
Ambulances made a swift transportation of the young victim to Hillsdale Hospital. It was here, despite the valiant efforts of the medical team, the girl ultimately succumbed to her injuries incurred from the accident, sparking grief and shock throughout the Hillsdale community.

It has been reported that the toddler had been put to bed by her parents, who then continued with their household chores. It was during this time that the child managed to get out of bed and leave the home, wandering into Chicago Street. In an unfortunate turn of events, the child was struck by a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta driven by a 38-year-old man from Allen.
The preliminary investigation indicated no trace of drugs or alcohol in the incident. However, the Michigan State Police stated that the case remains under investigation. The toddler’s autopsy will also be conducted in due course. The driver of the vehicle involved has been cooperative during the investigation.
