A Meaningful Tribute

This ceremony holds a significant place in the hearts of many and serves as a vital reminder of the sacrifices made by those who have put their lives on the line for the freedoms we enjoy every day. Dr. Rodney Caruthers, the Chairperson of the Southfield Veterans Commission, shared his thoughts: “The Veterans Day Ceremony is a significant event for our community. It’s a time for us to come together and show our gratitude to all those who have risked their lives protecting our freedoms.” It’s a moment where everyone can pause and reflect on the immense contributions of our veterans.

Who Can Participate?

The Commission is encouraging any veterans from Southfield or Lathrup Village who wish to be recognized during this ceremony to get in touch. If you or someone you know has served, this is a wonderful opportunity to share their story and receive the appreciation they truly deserve.

To be included in the ceremony, veterans are asked to email communityrelations@cityofsouthfield.com. When reaching out, veterans should provide their name, branch of service, rank, and any notable service details or accolades they’d like highlighted. A Community Gathering

This ceremony isn’t just for veterans; it’s an invitation for the whole community to come together. Families, friends, and residents are encouraged to join in and show their support. It’s a day to celebrate the courage, dedication, and patriotism that these individuals embody. “We encourage everyone to join us in honoring these heroes,” Dr. Caruthers emphasized. The ceremony promises to be filled with heartfelt tributes, moments of reflection, and a collective expression of gratitude for those who have served.
