Get ready, Southfield! The 2024 Soulful Santa Celebration is just around the corner, and it’s shaping up to be an unforgettable day filled with joy and holiday cheer. Mark your calendars for December 14th, from 12 to 5 p.m.. This year, the festivities will unfold at the Southfield Pavilion, located at 26000 Evergreen Road.
The Soulful Santa event isn’t just your regular holiday gathering; it’s a beloved tradition that brings people together, creating a wonderful atmosphere where families can bond while enjoying the spirit of the season. Shauna Hutchinson from Southfield’s Parks & Recreation Department shared, “The Soulful Santa Celebration is a wonderful opportunity to bring the community together. It’s a joyful blend of family fun and civic pride, where we can create lasting memories for residents while also showcasing the heart of our city’s spirit.”
She emphasizes that this event is much more than just entertainment—it’s about strengthening connections and celebrating the essence of the holiday season in a way that benefits everyone in the community.
What can you expect at this year’s Soulful Santa Celebration? A whole lot of fun! Picture this: You and your loved ones will have the chance to snap professional photos with the one and only Black Santa and enjoy a myriad of engaging activities. There will be take-home crafts to inspire creativity in kids, a bustling vendor market for all your holiday shopping needs, and even holiday karaoke to unleash your inner performer!
But that’s not all! The Wii Spin 360 Photobooth will be set up for even more festive photo-taking opportunities, making sure you capture those joyful moments with friends and family. And for the little ones, Jazzy the Clown will be there, spreading happiness with face painting and lots of giggles.
A highlight this year is a special performance by the talented dancers of Impulse Dance Academy. Their holiday-themed performance is sure to wow the crowd and add a dash of sparkle to the day. Plus, attendees can warm up with delicious cookies and hot chocolate, available for all those feeling a bit chilly during the festivities. For those looking for a more substantial meal, several food options will also be on hand for purchase.
The holiday marketplace is not to be missed! Local vendors will showcase unique items perfect for gift-giving. One of the vendors, Patrice Lee from Leep4Joy Books, mentioned that the Soulful Santa event creates “a safe environment in which children can be children.” She added, “During this special day, children are allowed to do crafts, showcase their talents, and spend quality time with family and friends.” Parents will appreciate the chance to shop for educational and entertaining gift items while their kids are engaged in fun activities!
Ready to join in on the festivities? Tickets are priced at $8 for Southfield residents and $10 for non-residents. Remember, all attendees aged 2 and up need a ticket to enter, and each family must have at least one adult present. You can snag your tickets online at bit.ly/SfldSoulfulSanta24 or buy them in person at the Parks & Recreation Information Desk at the Pavilion. But don’t wait too long—limited tickets will also be available at the door based on space.
As vendor Anna Davis of Anna & Things Joy of Chocolate exclaimed, “I look forward every year coming to do your Christmas event!” It’s a beautiful reminder of how this celebration brings everyone together in the community.
