Hey there, Michigan! Are you ready for some delicious news? The beloved Shamrock Shake is making its grand return to McDonald’s menus across the state, and it’s happening from February 10 to March 23. This iconic green treat isn’t just a tasty indulgence; every sip helps support families in need. With each Shamrock Shake bought in Michigan, McDonald’s will donate a delightful 25 cents to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC). So, you can enjoy your shake while making a real difference!
In 2024, Michiganders proved their generosity by raising over $361,000 for four RMHC chapters located in Ann Arbor, Detroit, Grand Rapids, and Lansing through the sales of Shamrock Shakes. That’s impressive! The donations aim to provide up to 50,000 overnight stays for families at RMHC programs, allowing them to stay close to their children receiving medical care. What a fantastic reason to treat yourself to a shake!
A total of $84,626 from the Shamrock Shake sales specifically went to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mid-Michigan in Lansing. It just goes to show that when you enjoy a refreshing shake, you’re also helping families during some of their toughest times. Local McDonald’s owners are rallying behind this wonderful campaign and expressing their excitement over blending fun flavors with meaningful community support.
McDonald’s has a big goal for this year, aiming to raise $5 million nationwide through Shamrock Shake donations. This over-the-top kindness doesn’t just stop with the shakes. As part of the campaign, the fun-loving characters Grimace and Uncle O’Grimacey are reuniting for the first time in decades. They will be traveling coast-to-coast to spread cheer and celebration for the season!
Want to take home a piece of the fun? Fans will be able to purchase Uncle O’Grimacey merchandise, with pre-sales available online. A portion of the proceeds will also contribute to additional donations to RMHC. It’s a great opportunity to snag some cool stuff while helping families in need!
For those who may not know, the Shamrock Shake first appeared back in 1967, created by a McDonald’s owner/operator in Connecticut. It became widely available in 1970 and has been delighting taste buds ever since. Interestingly, the sales from Shamrock Shakes helped fund the very first Ronald McDonald House in 1974. This means enjoying a Shamrock Shake truly has a legacy of love.
So, what makes this shake so special? The Shamrock Shake is crafted from vanilla soft serve ice cream blended with Shamrock Shake syrup and topped with fluffy whipped cream. Let’s be honest, it’s the perfect treat for celebrating St. Patrick’s Day, which happens every year on March 17.
So, mark your calendars, Michigan! From February 10 to March 23, indulge in a Shamrock Shake and help make a real impact in your community. Together, you and your tasty shake can help families stay close when they need it the most. Cheers to good treats for a good cause!
