Tracking Severe Weather Alerts Across Southeast Michigan

Detroit Faces Severe Weather Conditions

The city of Detroit is currently under high alert as potential severe weather conditions are expected to prevail across Southeast Michigan on August 27, 2024. Weather forecast predicts the region to experience a harsh combination of extreme heat and severe thunderstorms throughout Tuesday, starting from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.

All Metro Detroit counties have been issued with a heat advisory and a large portion of Southeast Michigan is under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 9 p.m. The thunderstorms are expected to break pass into Ontario at about 9 p.m.

Severe Weather Alerts across Counties

A list of severe weather alerts have been issued for each of the affected counties, as follows:

  • Wayne County: A severe thunderstorm warning expired at 6:45 p.m., however, the severe thunderstorm watch remains in effect until 9 p.m..
  • Oakland County: The severe thunderstorm warning expired at 6:30 p.m.
  • Macomb County: Severe thunderstorm warning expired at 6:45 p.m., meanwhile, the severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 9 p.m.
  • Washtenaw County: The severe thunderstorm warning for Washtenaw County expired at 6:30 p.m., but the severe thunderstorm watch stays in effect until 9 p.m.
  • Livingston County: Severe thunderstorm warning expired at 6 p.m.
  • Monroe County: Severe thunderstorm warning would last till, 7 p.m. and a severe thunderstorm watch will stay in effect until 9 p.m.
  • Lenawee County: A severe thunderstorm warning expired at 7 p.m, but the severe thunderstorm watch is in effect until 9 p.m.
  • Lapeer County: The severe thunderstorm warning expired at 6:15 p.m.
  • Sanilac County: The severe thunderstorm warning was recorded to have expired at 6:30 p.m.
  • St. Clair County: A severe thunderstorm warning expired at 6:45 p.m and there’s a severe thunderstorm watch still in effect until 9 p.m.
  • Genesee County: The severe thunderstorm warning came to an end at 5:30 p.m.
