If you’re an RV owner or someone who loves the great outdoors, there’s a must-attend event coming up just around the corner. The Michigan Association of Recreation Vehicles and Campgrounds (MARVAC) is rolling out the red carpet for its Regional Knowledge Summit, focusing on vital topics such as safety and emerging regulations in the RV world!
This insightful summit is set to take place on two separate days. Mark your calendars for April 22 and April 23. The first session will kick off in Novi, Michigan, at the Suburban Showplace, located at 46100 Grand River Ave. The second session will be hosted at Saginaw Valley State University, located at 7400 Bay Road in Saginaw.
Both events will happen from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., so there’s plenty of time to soak up all the knowledge and networking opportunities.
Come hungry for knowledge because the agenda is packed! Each day will feature three knowledgeable speakers. Attorney Bonnie Mayfield will open the discussion with critical updates on new employment laws, highlighting Michigan’s latest initiative, the Earned Sick Time Act. This information is particularly essential for RV dealers and campground owners who need to stay in the loop on such vital regulations.
After lunch, MARVAC’s own President and CEO, John Lindley, will dive into the state legislature and the shifting regulatory landscape that affects the RV industry. The insights shared here will be crucial for anyone involved in recreational vehicle operations to understand how new laws could shape their business practices.
Finally, Curtis Hemmeler, the executive director of the RV Technical Institute, will take the stage to talk about the upcoming Ground Monitor Interrupter (GMI) requirements that will take effect in 2026. He’ll explain how these devices are designed to protect RV owners from a dangerous situation known as “hot skin.” This phenomenon occurs when an RV’s electrical system is connected to a poorly grounded outlet, electrifying metal components and creating serious risks of shock or fire. When it comes to safety, this is a game-changer.
This summit isn’t just about listening—it’s about getting involved. The goal is to educate RV dealers and campground owners about the new GMI regulations, encouraging open discussions on best practices and safety measures within the RV community. Attendees will leave armed with more information and tips on how to be compliant with the new GMI requirements, as well as ways to ensure campground readiness.
Excited to be part of this enriching experience? Registration is easy! Give MARVAC a call at (517) 349-3300 or shoot them an email at info@mmhrvca.org to secure your spot. The registration fee is $50 for MARVAC members and $150 for non-members. But wait—if you’re not a member yet, here’s a sweet deal: join MARVAC within seven days of the event and you’ll snag a $100 credit toward your membership!
John Lindley emphasizes that user experience and safety are paramount in the RV industry. This summit is a fantastic opportunity for anyone involved in the outdoor recreation scene to expand their knowledge and network with industry professionals. Don’t let this chance pass you by. Be sure to register and make your voice heard in the evolving world of camping and RVing!
