Relief From Dryness: Decent Rain On the Way for Michigan
While we are still a few days off, Michigan is geared up to receive some much-needed rain early next week. This precipitation is forecasted to cover most, if not all, of the state, promising an end to the recent dry spell. Meteorological models have been consistent in predicting the intensity and location of this forthcoming rain, and recent updates point to an earlier arrival by about a day compared to what forecasters were predicting earlier in the week.

The rain is expected to land in six-hour increments, from midday Sunday through Wednesday. The crux of this rainstorm will likely take place Sunday night, and then again on Tuesday and Tuesday night. This does not mean a continuous downpour for two straight days; rather patrons can expect several sessions of rainfall during this time.

When it comes to the quantum of this much-anticipated rain, prepare for a few concentrated periods of rainfall. The sprinkles should commence on Sunday night, followed by a dispersal on Monday, and resume with full force on Tuesday and Tuesday night. Remember, most of Lower Michigan has only received a third of an inch of rain atmost this month. Several regions have seen merely a few hundredths of an inch since the beginning of September. The upcoming rain is hence, an opportunity to make up for this deficit.

The weather seems supportive as of now, with the only exceptions being the spotty showers set for Friday, and early next week’s substantial rain. After this, the dry spell is expected to resume for a week, potentially extending up until the end of September.

Most parts of Michigan should at least receive three-quarters of an inch of rain, with several areas potentially witnessing an inch or more.
