Doctor from Pontiac, Michigan Faces Multiple Charges in Court

In Pontiac, Michigan, Dr. Oumair Aejaz, a well-known physician has been charged with multiple serious offences involving women and children. The charges were faced by the doctor during a digital court hearing today conducted on the popular video-conferencing platform, Zoom.

Mariell Lehman, the defense lawyer for Dr. Aejaz, shared her concerns about the direction the case has taken so far. In a remarkable statement, she cited that the Sheriff had declared Dr. Aejaz guilty.

The defense lawyer further mentioned that the remarks made by the Sheriff have compromised the constitutional right of Dr. Aejaz to be considered innocent till the charges against him have been proven beyond doubt.

Lehman, subsequently, requested the court to instruct the prosecution and the Sheriff’s office to refrain from making any further statements concerning Dr. Aejaz’s case. Furthermore, she indicated that the defense had not been given sufficient time to review the evidence provided by the prosecution, which included 141 pages of documents submitted just this morning.

Dr. Aejaz, a local physician practicing internal medicine, was arrested last week after the police received some pertinent evidence. Among the items confiscated are 6 computers, 4 mobile phones, and about 15 storage devices. The Sheriff mentioned that just one hard drive contained over 13,000 videos. He also suggested the presence of additional storage on cloud services.

Shockingly, the physician has been accused of secretly filming his victims, which include women and children, using hidden cameras. A property in Rochester Hills linked to Dr. Aejaz has been handed over to his wife, along with sole custody of their two children following divorce proceedings which began in June.

The charges faced by Dr. Aejaz include a series of crimes targeting children and women:

  • Child sexually abusive activity
  • Using a computer to create and or reproduce child sexually abusive material
  • Capturing or recording children under the age of 18 while they’re nude
  • Capturing or recording adult women while they’re nude
  • Using a computer to commit a crime

The residents of Rochester Hills are finding it difficult to come to terms with the charges against Dr. Aejaz. They are grappling to understand why a doctor with a successful career would resort to such alarming behavior.

While Dr. Aejaz continues to defend his innocence, the court has scheduled his next hearing for September 16. Meanwhile, his bond stands at a hefty 2 million dollars, with stringent conditions attached.
