Oakland County Judge Suspended Amid Investigation

Oakland County Judge Suspended Amid Investigation

There’s been a big shake-up at the Oakland County courts. Probate Judge Kathleen Ryan has been suspended from her duties. It seems she’s being investigated over an alleged inappropriate relationship with a man who also works in the courts. As if that wasn’t enough, there are reports of more misconduct from the Judge.

The case is now in the hands of the judicial tenure commission. They have a big responsibility here – they need to review all the evidence and make a recommendation to the Michigan Supreme Court about what should happen next. Depending what they find, actions can range from doing absolutely nothing to removing the judge from her post altogether. Certainly no small matter.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t the first time Kathleen Ryan has found herself in the spotlight for all the wrong reasons. Back in 2021, she was charged with domestic assault and battery following an incident with her partner in Wixom. However, that case was eventually tossed out after being transferred to Wayne County due to what was considered a conflict of interest in Oakland County.

Kathleen Ryan isn’t a newcomer to the bench – she’s been a judge since 2010 handling cases involving wills and conservatorships, among other things. There are no other records of her behaviour being investigated by the judicial tenure commission. It’s now a waiting game to see how these recent developments might impact her past or ongoing cases. Court representatives have suggested there will likely be more updates next week.

Local Residents Await Further Updates

Local residents are surely following this development closely as it can potentially impact their cases and the overall operations of the County Court. It’s sure going to be an interesting week ahead, as everyone eyes what will unfold in the next stages of this investigation.
