As summer begins to draw to a close, the Oakland County Community is bursting with a variety of diverse events for residents to enjoy, from business sessions and charity activities to community gatherings and festivals.
A key upcoming business event in Oakland County is the Business-2-Business Roundtable Networking Membership event, titled “Navigating the Future-AI’s Impact on Business, Workforce, and Ethics”, now rescheduled to September 19.
Charitable activities include a book launch event organized by Easterseals at the Miracle League Field on August 27, featuring the book “Making a Difference with Easterseals: How Can I Help?”. The county is also witnessing a free diaper giveaway in collaboration with Priority Health and Metropolitan Detroit Diaper Bank throughout the month of August.
The community calendar is packed with local events too. One such event is the Back-to-School Community Giveaway hosted by So Fresh-n-So Clean Barbershop in partnership with Boys2Men Mentor Program on August 25. The Southeast Michigan Bridge Association-Dog Days of Summer Sectional is also scheduled from August 22-25.
Adding a dash of festivity, the Renaissance Festival will be held on weekends from August 17 through September 29, and the Dragon on the Lake Festival is set to bring art, music, and community spirit to downtown Lake Orion on August 23-25. Looking further ahead, the much anticipated Michigan State Fair will kick off on August 29 and run until September 2.
Libraries are offering enriching activities, such as the Rochester Hills Public Library’s installment of the Rochester Area Youth Assistance League’s Speaker Series, scheduled for September 5. For plant enthusiasts, native plant pre-orders are available through September 6 with pickup slated for September 11.
With natural beauty abound, parks in Oakland County are offering a range of activities too. Newly on offer are the 2024 vehicle permits from Oakland County Parks and Recreation. Also, artist-designed mini-golf is available at Cranbrook’s green space, offering a fun-filled experience for the entire family.
Finally, for those in need of help and support, the community offers access to several key services such as the 211 community service access line and the Common Ground’s Resource & Crisis Helpline. The 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline and Veterans Crisis Line serve as lifelines for individuals in crisis.
