Oakland County Community Calendar, August 18 Onward

Oakland County is buzzing with a diversity of interesting activities, all designed for the enjoyment of its residents. From business expos to charitable activities, community events, and festivals, the calendar is packed with a mix of events to attend and enjoy from August 18 onwards.

Business Events

The Bluewater Technologies Tech Expo offering exciting insights into the latest in AV innovations is open to industry professionals. It is scheduled to take place at the Bluewater Technologies Headquarters in Wixom on August 21-22.

Also, the Oakland Country Business-2-Business Roundtable Networking Membership is hosting an event on “Navigating the Future-AI’s Impact on Business, Workforce, and Ethics” at the end of the month on August 29.

Charitable Activities and Fundraisers

In partnership with the Metropolitan Detroit Diaper Bank, there is an ongoing free diaper giveaway that runs throughout the month of August. Priority Health is offering 100 free diapers and one package of wipes per baby.

Adding to this charitable spirit, the “Walk a Mile in My Shoes Rally” is set to take place on September 17 at the State Capitol Building, Lansing. This event is designed to raise support for public behavioral healthcare and emphasize the need for increased funding for mental health services.

Community Events

Residents are invited to join the Health & Housing Summer Fest happening on August 19 at Catalpa Oaks County Park in Southfield. The fest is a free family fun and resource expo open to all Oakland County residents.

Every Wednesday through August 21, Bloomfield Township will host Food Truck Wednesdays on the Township Campus parking lot.

On selected dates in August and September, the Detroit Zoo will feature local artist Nick Bair, who will create a vibrant, chalk-art drawing. This event is a partnership with The Living and Learning Enrichment Center.

Festivals

The Renaissance Festival in Holly rolls out every Saturday and Sunday from August 17 through September 29. Enthusiasts will enjoy live entertainment, jousting, numerous vendors, and themed weekends.

The Annual Downtown Franklin Summer Block Party is scheduled for August 21 in downtown Franklin between 14 Mile Road and the Franklin Library.

Meanwhile, ClawsonFest is an all-ages free concert, food, and art festival taking place on August 24.

August 24 and 25 will also see the Hazel Park Art Fair at Green Acres Park, Hazel Park.
