If you’re a resident of Novi or Northville, mark your calendars! A public meeting is set for October 23 from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at Hillside Middle School, where you can learn all about the significant renovation planned for Novi Road. The project will cover a critical stretch of road between Eight Mile and Nine Mile Roads, a busy passage used by approximately 13,700 vehicles each day!
The work will take place over two years and will be done in two phases starting in 2025. The entire renovation project is expected to cost around $6.7 million, with a significant portion funded by federal grants. Any additional expenses will be shared among the Oakland County Road Commission, Novi, Northville, and the county’s general fund.
The scope of work is quite extensive and aims to enhance not only the road itself but also the safety and accessibility for everyone. Here’s a closer look at what will be happening:
During the course of the renovation, Novi Road will be closed to through traffic. To make sure you can still get around, a detour will guide you along 8 Mile Road to Meadowbrook Road to 9 Mile Road and back to Novi Road. Expect some intermittent lane closures as utility relocations take place.
For anyone who can’t attend the meeting, there’s also an option to learn more about the project through the Oakland County Road Commission’s project page online.
In summary, this renovation is a much-needed step towards improving road safety and accessibility in our communities. Don’t miss out on the chance to learn more and get involved!
