In the bustling city of Novi, a new option for window shopping has just popped up. The renowned window treatment manufacturer, Graber, has opened its first-ever showroom in Michigan, right here in Novi. Strategically located adjacent to five major furniture stores, the new Detroit Design Center brings a breath of fresh air to the realm of window furnishing.
The showroom was made possible by Clear Fortress Window Solutions, a Michigan native, family-owned business that brings Graber’s top-notch products to its customer’s fingertips. Known for their “shop at home” concept, Clear Fortress sends design wizards to homes scattered from Lansing to Toledo, Perrysburg, and even as far up as Midland. However, for those who prefer getting up-close and personal with the products before purchasing, the new showroom is a dream come true.
At the Detroit Design Center, customers get to experience the products — touch, see, and even interact with a range of blinds, shades, and drapes. The showroom even prides itself on utilizing cutting-edge technology – a touchscreen device that enables you to upload pictures of your home, drag and drop window treatment options on them, and visualize the makeover without lifting a heavy drape!
Clear Fortress CEO shed light on how their product range merges timeless functionality with contemporary style. He underlined that home design trends have shifted to prioritize customizability above anything else. From earth-toned gray walls paired with pops of color to the trend of silver or nickel fixtures, their design studio caters to it all.
Homeowners are gravitating towards creating a clean, simple look — a refined base to play up colors, textures, and patterns while maintaining an uncluttered aesthetic. Picking out vibrantly colored or patterned drapes and shades as accent pieces, or experimenting with textures and materials, all contribute to this trend. Sheer linen fabrics in Roman shades or wooden slats in natural shades, for instance, are a hot pick for modern home designers.
Interestingly, all window treatments exhibited at the Detroit Design Center are cordless. In light of the 2023 directive from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission limiting the cord length to eight inches, cordless window coverings are not just a trend, but a regulatory mandate aimed at ensuring children’s safety.
The design studio even caters to those on the lookout for hi-tech home solutions. Home automation is increasingly seeping into the realms of home design, and window treatments are no exception. Motorized blinds from Graber that can lift or release shades at a button’s press, a phone tap, or a command to Amazon Alexa or Google Home, are on display at the Detroit Design Center.
Novi’s newest addition injects a much-needed freshness into window shopping, making the design, customization, and automation of your dream home a reality and an adventure!
