High-priced Heist at Novi local Jewelry Store
Something fishy went down at a jewelry store in Novi last weekend, where a group of four customers managed to mosey right in and casually walk back out with a whopping 10 grand’s worth of bling-bling. They got away and the cops are on the case.
A worker at this store, Gold Buy and Jewelry Pawn Loans, was holding down the fort alone on that Saturday afternoon. An older lady in her 60s, rocking a hijab, and a teenage boy claimed they were looking for a ring for one of her sons. This pair came in before two other dudes. The second duo were chatty about rings too, while giving the solo store worker the runaround.
When the worker was busy helping the first two customers, the second pair of guys made their move. One guy sneakily reached over the counter and popped open the jewelry case. Cops reckon he swiped a box of 18 rings sitting in an unlocked display case and the other dude was seen sticking the box into a swanky satchel-style purse. Before you could say ‘jack robinson’, the four supposed customers were out of there.
The main man in charge of the investigation at Novi PD, NPD Cmdr. Jason Meier, confirmed they are considering all four as bad apples in this case. The first of the guys not shopping with the old lady is a medium-built hulk, about 6 foot 2 with black hair, glasses, and some facial fuzz. He was dressed in black – shirt and pants. The dude with the satchel was skinny, around 5-foot-8, was sporting a beanie cap, white button-down shirt, and black slacks.
The slip happened between 3 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. on Saturday. When the worker realized what went down, they tipped off the cops and the fuzz arrived at the scene pretty quickly. Last year, the boys in blue in Michigan logged more than 23,000 cases of hot retail goods getting swiped. They only managed to solve about 12% of more than 104,000 cases of sticky fingers. So, if you’ve got some inside scoop, let’s help out Novi Police and bring these guys to justice!
