Novi, Michigan – In a tragic incident during the Michigan State Fair, a 14-year-old boy was fatally shot, prompting an intensive investigation by local police. The boy has been identified as Darean Davis, a 10th-grade student at University High School in Ferndale. The shooting occurred around 10 p.m. on Saturday in the parking lot of the Suburban Collection Showplace.
Darean was shot and later succumbed to his injuries. A second 14-year-old boy was also shot in the incident and was expected to be released from the hospital on Tuesday. The police have not disclosed the name of the hospital where the survivor is being treated.
“We send our condolences and ask that you keep them in your thoughts,” she said.
As of Tuesday, authorities have not identified any suspects involved in the shooting. Meier confirmed that investigators have a clear idea of the circumstances that led to the incident but did not provide further details, stating that the investigation is ongoing. “We’re still working diligently around the clock,” Meier said, encouraging the public to share any relevant information or tips.
This incident serves as a painful reminder of the impact of gun violence on communities, specifically young lives cut short. Residents of Novi and surrounding areas are left grappling with the loss and searching for answers amid an investigation that continues to unfold.
