Novi City Helps Pex’s Smooth Transition by Providing Temporary Shelter and Support

Exciting times ahead in Novi! A new provider of curb-to-curb transit services known as People’s Express (Pex) has taken charge, and the city is backing them up. Pex will temporarily operate at the Novi Civic Center and make use of city-owned amenities till the end of the year.

Novi City Council has generously extended a warm welcome to Pex. They have gifted the service with a temporary workspace and parking spot at the Civic Center. Additionally, Pex is also allowed access to city fuel pumps.

“We thought this on-site approach ensures a smooth transition and helps in resolving queries in real time,” commented the City Manager. Sharing the same sentiment, Councilwoman expressed her delight that the presence of Pex on-site would create a better support network during the transition phase.

Preparing for a Smooth Future Transition

Despite the agreement set to last six months, the city has also shown open-mindedness to extend the term. The decision will be revisited in about three months, taking into consideration the situation at that time. Mayor of Novi agreed to the arrangement made with Pex on temporary usage. However, he stated the necessity for Pex to rent space post the transitional phase.

Currently, Pex functions out of Whitmore Lake. However, settling in Novi enables Pex to efficiently invoice free rides for seniors and disabled individuals. The setup also prevents newly hired Novi bus drivers from having to commute to Whitmore Lake every day to collect their vehicle.

A Win-win for Everyone?

The Councilman suggested Pex consider purchasing property in Novi, similar to what other services in the area did in the past. He regards such a move as a form of investment in the local community. In response to the proposal, Pex agreed to carefully observe its service operations before committing to any real estate decisions.

Despite some concerns, the city’s initiative to assist Pex during the transition phase passed with unanimous support.
