Michigan Stadium made waves in 1930 by becoming the first-ever venue to introduce electronic scoreboards, setting the stage for the modern sports experience that fans enjoy today. The addition of permanent steel bleachers in 1949 increased the capacity to 97,239, providing a more comfortable venue for fans.

By 1955, Michigan Stadium reached an official capacity of 101,001, maintaining an incredible record of hosting fans exceeding 100,000 since 1975. The stadium’s evolution continued with numerous updates, including a press box added in 1956, along with an ongoing debate between artificial turf and natural grass fields to better cater to the sports culture of the time.
