In the bustling city of Pontiac, big news is circulating with the recent appointment of Lorenzo Suter as the new President and CEO of McLaren Oakland. He stepped into this prominent role effective September 8, 2024, after a thorough national search involving McLaren Health Care leaders, medical staff, and the Board of Trustees at McLaren Oakland. Suter succeeds Tracey Franovich, who had been serving in an interim capacity while transitioning to a similar role at McLaren Macomb.

With a strong background in expanding care services and building productive relationships with both staff and patients, Suter is geared up for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

Chad Grant, the Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of McLaren Health Care, expressed confidence in Suter’s ability to lead, stating, “With the recent launch of McLaren Oakland – Oxford, this is an exciting time for the entire community.” He affirmed Suter’s qualifications, saying, “We are confident that Lorenzo has the experience, expertise, and leadership to guide the organization and position it to serve its communities into the future.”

With the new McLaren Oakland – Oxford location, which boasts the community’s only emergency department, residents can anticipate more enhanced healthcare services close to home.

“McLaren Health Care is a dynamic system, and McLaren Oakland is an energetic organization serving the needs of a range of communities,” Suter remarked. He expressed excitement about collaborating with the dedicated team of physicians, caregivers, and staff to improve the health and well-being of patients in the community. “We will continue to make a positive impact on our communities, and I am eager to get started,” he added.

A Strong Educational Background

Proving that education supports his hands-on experience, Suter graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Western Kentucky University. He then advanced his studies by earning a Master of Health Administration and a Doctor of Healthcare Administration from Vanderbilt University and the University of Phoenix. Clearly, Suter values education and believes it enhances his ability to lead in a complex healthcare landscape.
