This weekend, the vibrant city of Novi is bustling with excitement as the Michigan Manufactured Housing Association brings an array of stunning manufactured home models to the Novi Home Show. From Friday to Sunday, visitors will have the chance to tour six incredible homes, each showcasing what modern manufactured housing has to offer.
If you’re not familiar, manufactured homes are built in a controlled factory setting. They sit on a sturdy steel frame and are made for either temporary placing on a foundation or permanent setups once connected to utilities. After construction, these homes are transported to their new locations—whether on personal property or in land-lease communities. It’s all about convenience and quality! According to housing authorities, such homes must meet strict guidelines under the Federal Manufactured Home Construction and Safety Standards Act, ensuring a safe and comfortable living experience.
If you’re leaning towards modular homes, which are also built in a factory, you’ll love that they’re assembled on-site by licensed builders. This allows them to comply with state and local building codes. It’s worth noting that modular homes can be as grand as two stories and can only be situated on private land according to the State of Michigan Residential Building Code.
Did you know that Michigan ranks among the top 10 states for manufactured home shipments? In 2022, there were 4,934 shipments, and so far in 2023, there have already been 3,212 shipments. In just a little over two years, more than 12,000 new homes have been welcomed into the state!
“The manufactured home models featured at this event redefine what’s possible in our industry,” said an industry leader, emphasizing the significant advancements in design, energy efficiency, and functionality.
The homes on display at the Suburban Collection Showplace will highlight luxurious features such as open floor plans, gorgeous kitchens with granite countertops, and elegant primary baths, thanks to leading manufacturers in the sector. Attendees can expect to see three single-section homes and three multisection homes, ranging from 1,056 to 1,699 square feet in size. Prices make these homes accessible to a wide range of buyers, starting as low as $46,748 and going up to $149,999.
One of the standout benefits of these manufactured homes is how quickly you can move in. After making a purchase, buyers can close the deal in as little as 16 to 90 days, ensuring a speedy transition to their new living space. This is a significant advantage for those eager to settle into their homes.
Participating manufacturers, including Clayton, Skyline, and Champion, will be present at the show to provide insights and answer any questions you might have about the models. “We host these showcases so that people can come out, see, touch, feel, and tour the homes,” said an industry representative. This hands-on experience can help you better visualize living in a manufactured home.
