Macomb, Oakland County Fire Rescue Agencies Receive a Funding Boost

Good news for fire rescue departments spread across Macomb and Oakland counties. An extra set of turnout gear is on the way! Thanks to thousands of dollars raised from a state grant, their readiness to serve the community is about to get a whole lot better. That’s right, a second pair of turnouts is coming to town, and it’s not just any routine update.

These additional sets of gear are state-of-the-art and include a coat, pants, and boots. It’s all made possible by the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity (LEO), who have staked $15 million in grants to quite a few fire and safety departments across Michigan. This initiative is all about equipping full-time firefighters with the best gear in town to keep them safe while they’re out there saving lives.

An added bonus to the new gear is the improvement of firemen response time as they can quickly switch into a clean set right after a fire instead of waiting for their shift to end to clean the gear.

The funds allocated will be distributed across an impressive number of 15 departments in Macomb County and 28 in Oakland County. Notable recipients include areas like Chesterfield Township, Fraser, and Harrison Township among others in Macomb County, and top-receivers like Bloomfield Township, Farmington Hills, and Waterford Township in Oakland County.

This grant is not just an essential boost to these departments but a token of safety and protection for the brave firefighters and the communities they serve.
