Farmington Hills Community Seeks Justice in Ongoing Disappearance of Danielle Stislicki

Farmington Hills, Mich.: A Case of Heartbreak and Mystery Continues

It’s been a painful eight years for the family and friends of Danielle Stislicki, a young woman who vanished from her workplace in Southfield on December 2, 2016, and has not been seen since. Her disappearance has baffled and haunted the Oakland County community, as Danielle’s loved ones cling to hope amidst the heartache.

Danielle, just 28 years old when she disappeared, had left her job that evening with plans to enjoy dinner with her best friend. But that much-anticipated dinner never happened. Instead, she walked out into a chilling mystery—one that has only deepened over the years.

The Details Surrounding Her Disappearance

In the days following her disappearance, attention quickly turned to Floyd Galloway, a security guard who worked at Danielle’s office. Galloway has a troubling past; he was later charged with her murder but has not yet faced trial. According to prosecutors, he had a history of seeking out Danielle and had even sent her flowers in the past. On the night she went missing, he claimed to have worked late, but police later discovered he called off for a purported “doctor’s appointment.”

A witness reported seeing Galloway in the parking lot, hood up on his Buick Regal, right around the time Danielle disappeared. In a disturbing twist, another witness claimed to have spotted Galloway in the passenger seat of Danielle’s Jeep Renegade as they pulled away from the parking lot. This evidence adds to the unsettling narrative surrounding her case.

Legal Struggles and Delays

As the years rolled on, the quest for justice took a complicated turn. Recently, a judge denied Galloway’s defense motion aimed at dismissing charges based on claims of violation of his attorney-client privilege. Oakland County Judge Phyllis McMillen ruled against this motion—striking a blow to Galloway’s legal team and indicating that there is still much work to do before the trial can proceed.

Judge McMillen clarified that while the attorney general’s office was not responsible for sharing confidential information, steps must be taken “to properly analyze these issues.” She mentioned that the potential exists for a fair trial as long as the case is handed to an untainted attorney once the current phase concludes.

Crucial Evidence Overturned

The past few years have seen key pieces of evidence related to the case excluded from the trial. Both Oakland County and state appellate courts have ruled to suppress evidence gathered through questionable means. The decision-making surrounding this evidence has been tumultuous, with Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel even seeking a review from the Supreme Court—a move that highlights the complexities at play in this case.

Despite the court’s efforts, there is still uncertainty about whether the Supreme Court will hear the appeal, as they typically select only a small fraction of cases to review each year. That said, the future of this case remains murkier than ever.

A Hope Yet to Be Realized

In the meantime, Galloway is serving time for a separate crime—kidnapping and sexually assaulting a jogger just months before Danielle vanished. His conviction underscored concerns about his history of violence, but hope remains elusive for Danielle’s family as they await a resolution.

With a whirlwind of legal proceedings and conflicting outcomes, the community continues to rally around Danielle’s family in this ongoing battle for justice. As they push forward, they remain united in their hope that one day, they will know what truly happened to their beloved Danielle.

This heartbreaking case has drawn attention from both local and national audiences, underscoring the fight for truth and justice in the face of immense personal loss. The community waits in anticipation as they follow each twist and turn in an effort to bring closure to this tragic story.
