Inkster, MI- Some serious charges have been laid against a 22-year-old man from Detroit who’s linked to the shooting of a seven-year-old boy. The young kid, luckily, lived through the dreadful incident, which went down July 15, at an apartment on Tobin Drive in Inkster.
When cops arrived at the scene, they discovered the little boy in the house, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. They quickly moved the boy to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The man being charged, Antwon Tyree Williams, is the one being accused of pulling the trigger, hitting the boy square in the chest. He didn’t stick around afterward and took off but was later nabbed and arrested.
As of Monday, multiple charges have been brought against Williams, including assault with intent to do great bodily harm, discharging a firearm in a building causing injury, careless discharge of a firearm causing injury, and three counts of felony firearm.
In a statement regarding the case, the authorities stated their disappointment, voicing deep concerns about the alarming frequency of children getting shot inside homes where there are firearms. They voiced regret about the failure of adults in these cases and emphasized the need for stronger gun safety measures to prevent these kinds of tragedies.
The court arraigned Williams on August 7, in the 22nd District Court, with his bond set at $100,000 cash/surety. His next date in court, a probable cause hearing, has been scheduled for August 21.
