Sponsor Our ArticlesThe Dearborn Inn has reopened its doors after a two-year renovation, blending modern comforts with its historic charm. Part of Marriott Bonvoy’s Autograph Collection, it features 135 beautifully designed rooms and two new restaurants, offering guests both luxury accommodations and culinary delights inspired by local history and produce. The hotel’s renovation preserved its iconic Georgian-style architecture while introducing modern amenities. With plans for more guest suites and event spaces, the Dearborn Inn is set to become a premier destination for both leisure and gatherings.
Exciting times are here as the Dearborn Inn has officially thrown open its doors once again, inviting the public to experience a blend of modern comforts and timeless elegance. This much-loved hotel, nestled on 23 tranquil acres, has undergone an extensive two-year renovation that rejuvenates both its character and charm.
Part of the upscale Marriott Bonvoy’s Autograph Collection, the Dearborn Inn boasts 135 exquisitely designed rooms, including 19 luxurious suites and an impressive Presidential Suite. Pricing starts at a reasonable $350 per night, considering all the thoughtful renovations that have been made to enhance the guest experience.
Built in 1931 by the iconic Henry Ford and designed by renowned architect Albert Kahn, the Dearborn Inn has a rich history, once serving as the first-ever hotel designed for air travelers. With its Georgian-style architecture inspired by the inns of New England, the inn maintains much of its original charm, making it a true gem in the heart of Dearborn.
Throughout the years, the hotel has played host to an impressive roster of guests, including the likes of Walt Disney, Orville Wright, and even former Presidents such as Ronald Reagan. The recent renovations aim not only to modernize the facility but also to retain the historic essence that makes it so special to both the Ford community and the history of Dearborn.
The renovation process was no small feat; it involved serious efforts to revamp mechanical systems, update windows and doors, and restore the roof—all while ensuring the historic elements remained intact. The addition of new features, such as modern amenities and handcrafted furniture sourced from local artisans, provides a unique fusion of history and present-day luxury.
What’s more, the revamped Dearborn Inn aims to serve as a welcome retreat and a kind of living museum, integrating numerous historical artifacts throughout the property. Guests can look forward to experiencing a stay that is not just about luxury but enriched with stories from the past.
Food lovers have something to look forward to as well! The renovations have introduced two exciting dining concepts. The first is Clara’s Table, a farm-to-table restaurant that pays homage to Clara Ford, featuring a menu inspired by her own cookbook and emphasizing seasonal ingredients sourced from Michigan. Guests can indulge in a varied selection that celebrates local produce and flavors.
The second establishment is the Four Vagabonds, a cocktail bar that draws from the road-tripping adventures of Ford and his contemporaries. This venue offers not just a sophisticated selection of craft cocktails but also small plates named after their unique escapades. It’s an experience that brings together history and flavor in a delightful way.
Exciting developments don’t stop at dining; five standalone homes with guest suites are also in the works, nearing completion and expected to be ready for bookings by late July. These homes will feature kitchenettes and additional space suitable for larger groups, including wedding parties, offering an entirely new way to enjoy the Dearborn Inn experience.
Plans for the future are just as bright! The Dearborn Inn is working on indoor and outdoor event spaces that can hold up to 850 people, making it a prime location for weddings, conferences, and community gatherings alike. This is all part of the vision to create a space that celebrates both the past and the future.
In summary, the Dearborn Inn’s meticulous renovation has proven to be a labor of love that respects its storied past while elevating it into a modern-day paradise. This hotel is now more than a place to stay; it’s a celebration of history, comfort, and community. Whether you’re planning a getaway, a special event, or simply want to take in its rich heritage, there’s no better time to visit than now!
