Sponsor Our ArticlesAfter a two-year renovation, the iconic Dearborn Inn has reopened, blending historic charm with modern luxury. Established by Henry Ford in 1931, this hotel features 135 rooms with vintage-style decor, modern amenities, and new dining options. The renovation preserved historical artifacts while introducing contemporary touches. With expanded event spaces and the addition of colonial-style homes coming in 2025, the Dearborn Inn promises an exceptional experience for guests, celebrating its rich history in aviation and hospitality.
After a two-year renovation journey, the iconic Dearborn Inn has officially opened its doors, inviting guests to experience a unique blend of timeless charm and modern amenities. Originally established in 1931 by none other than Henry Ford, this stunning hotel has undergone a transformation that beautifully marries its storied past with contemporary expectations.
Designed by renowned architect Albert Kahn and sprawling across 23 acres, the Dearborn Inn features 135 beautifully crafted rooms. Its rich history adds an element of intrigue, having hosted notable guests like Walt Disney, Orville Wright, and even President Ronald Reagan. This hotel holds a special place in aviation history as one of the first airport hotels in the United States, conveniently situated across from the former Ford Airport.
The restoration of the Dearborn Inn was truly a labor of love. This project involved a collaboration of efforts among Ford Land, various Ford Motor Company archival teams, the Ford family, and talented design firms like AvroKO, Dash Design, and Kraemer Design Group. Such teamwork ensured that the renovation respected the hotel’s historical artifacts while infusing it with modern touches. Classic elements, like the striking checkerboard Italian marble flooring and the elegant green marble fireplace in the lobby, were carefully preserved, adding layers to the hotel’s rich narrative.
Guests can look forward to indulging in unique experiences, such as taking vintage-style ‘passport’ photos at a booth designed to resemble a historic Ford Tri-Motor airplane. Each guest room exudes comfort and a sense of nostalgia, featuring four-poster walnut beds, classic Eames chairs, and bathrooms adorned with Ford Pantone blue tiles. For those seeking more space, there are 19 suites available, including a luxurious Presidential Suite that boasts a living room, kitchenette, and dining area.
Additionally, five colonial-style homes with 18 more guest rooms are slated to be available for booking by the summer of 2025. The interior design proudly showcases Michigan-made furniture, including the beloved Platner chairs, ensuring a warm and regional feel throughout the hotel.
Food lovers will be thrilled with the introduction of two exciting new dining concepts. Clara’s Table is a delightful farm-to-table restaurant, inspired by the culinary flair of Clara Ford, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner with locally sourced ingredients. And if you’re in the mood for a drink, the Four Vagabonds cocktail bar will delight guests with crafty beverages and small plates, drawing inspiration from the road trips taken by prominent figures, including Henry Ford himself.
The Dearborn Inn has also expanded its offerings with large indoor and outdoor event spaces that can host up to 850 people. This makes it an ideal venue for weddings, corporate events, or family gatherings. Room rates start at an inviting $350 per night, with bookings already open.
General manager Joleisha Bradley has expressed her excitement about the hotel’s reopening, emphasizing how it harmoniously blends history and modern charm. The Dearborn Inn is not just a place to stay; it’s a destination that connects guests with a past full of stories while offering a comfortable and inspiring environment. So whether you’re planning a weekend getaway or a special event, the newly refurbished Dearborn Inn is ready and eager to welcome you!
