Novi Town Center is an open-air shopping center located in Novi, Michigan, about 30 miles northwest of downtown Detroit. Opened in 1987, the 303,809 square foot complex features over 30 stores, 8 restaurants, and serves as a community hub for the city of Novi.
History
The shopping center was envisioned as the start of a downtown for Novi when it first opened in 1987. It was developed by Trammell Crow on a 150-acre plot of land and helped draw the focal point back to what was once Novi’s main business district.
The center originally included an eight-screen movie theater that screened Bollywood and Indian films from 2005 to 2010. It went through some financial difficulties in the late 2000s due to store closures, but the 2012 opening of a 152,888 square foot Walmart superstore helped revitalize the complex.
Current Offerings
Today, Novi Town Center is home to a variety of big-name stores like TJ Maxx, Hobby Lobby, ULTA, Sierra Trading Post, and Walmart. It also features several casual dining restaurants where visitors can eat while shopping or relax.
The open-air center hosts seasonal events and features local artwork, including the Artist Allée – a covered walkway with impressionistic murals by Michigan artists.
