Livonia has something exciting brewing in town! After a remarkable journey spanning over four decades, the Palushaj family has opened the doors to Archie’s Tavern, a new venture that promises to bring back fond memories while introducing some fresh flavors. Located at 37714 Six Mile Road inside Laurel Park Place, this cozy spot aims to be a heartwarming blend of tradition and innovation.
For those who may not know, the Palushaj family has been a staple in the Livonia culinary scene for over 42 years with their beloved Archie’s Restaurant on Plymouth Road. Sadly, that chapter closed last year when the restaurant was sold to a car wash, leaving many loyal customers heartbroken. However, Michael Palushaj, who runs the tavern with his father, George, and uncle Nick, made it clear that the family wasn’t going anywhere. “We wanted to stay in Livonia, so we took some time off to find the right location,” Michael explained, letting us in on their journey to reopening.
Now, customers can breathe a sigh of relief! The new Archie’s Tavern, formerly known as Grand Tavern, has been beautifully remodeled and rebranded. But don’t worry—many of the family’s well-known favorites remain on the menu alongside some exciting new additions. “We took from the classics and added some new twists,” Michael noted with a smile.
Patrons can still enjoy Archie’s Famous Fish ‘N Chips, a classic that has been around since the beginning, as well as beloved dishes like broasted chicken, scrumptious Italian meals, and mouthwatering barbecue baby back ribs. “We cut down the old menu,” said Michael, emphasizing how the post-COVID landscape has influenced their decisions. “Nowadays with food costs…it’s near impossible to have a super big menu. Now we have a good-sized menu with plenty of options, but we still keep everything fresh and homemade.”
In addition to the classics, Archie’s Tavern introduces some exciting new options. Imagine sinking your teeth into a juicy half-pound Angus burger or munching on delicious nachos and quesadillas while sipping on a cool drink from the full bar. With 12 beers on draft and a variety of signature cocktails, there’s something for everyone! Popular choices include the classic old fashioned, seasonal pumpkin spice martinis for fall, and tantalizing flavored margaritas on Taco Tuesdays. Plus, let’s not forget their fantastic happy hour which runs from 2-6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Since opening its doors in August, Archie’s Tavern has been buzzing with activity. “A lot of our old regulars have become regulars again,” Michael shared. The tavern not only welcomes back familiar faces but is also gaining new fans, thanks in part to nearby hotels bringing in business travelers and sports teams. “We’ve also met a lot of new people,” he added, highlighting the blend of locals and visitors that makes the place feel vibrant and alive.
Even with the new beginnings, the Palushaj family remains focused on what they do best—providing excellent hospitality. George, who has extensive experience in the restaurant business, says the core of his passion lies in serving people. “I like people. I like to take care of them. When they say everything was wonderful, that makes me happy,” he said, sharing his genuine love for making others feel at home.
Whether you’re looking to dine in or grab something to-go, Archie’s Tavern offers both options. So why not swing by, grab a bite, and enjoy the fantastic new atmosphere?
