Angela Hospice CEO Set to Retire; Successor Named

A New Chapter in Leadership For Angela Hospice

Angela Hospice President and CEO, Marti Coplai, has officially declared her plans to retire in December. A successor to follow in her footsteps has been named: Jamie LaLonde, who is currently serving as the Executive Director of the organization.

Marti Coplai’s Significant Contributions

Coplai stepped into the role of Executive Director at Angela Hospice back in 2015 and ascended to the position of President and CEO in March of 2019. Over her tenure, Coplai has led the Angela Hospice team in accomplishing a series of major initiatives that have solidified the organization’s standing and ensured future sustainability. Her most recent undertaking was the extension of Angela Hospice services to North Oakland County. This expansion includes the establishment of a 15-bed hospice residence at the Lourdes Senior Community, and outreach through education and grief support groups that will greatly enrich the local community.

Introducing Jamie LaLonde

LaLonde joined the Angela Hospice team in May 2021. Initially, he came on board as the Director of the Angela First Care Program but transitioned into the role of Executive Director in January 2022. Prior to Angela Hospice, LaLonde served as the Administrator of Memory Care and Resident Services at Glacier Hills Retirement Community and continues to be an adjunct lecturer at the University of Michigan School of Social Work.

“I feel fortunate to have earned the opportunity to be part of its continuing legacy and lead this organization into the future,” says LaLonde. He displays pride in working alongside his dedicated team and having the opportunity to engage with the life experiences of individuals under their care.

Continued Excellence in Care

During his tenure, LaLonde has been instrumental in designing the current Palliative Care program at Angela Hospice. It was under his leadership that the organization managed to attain a 4-star hospice status rating, as awarded by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Drawing from his extensive experience in leading senior living communities at multiple levels, LaLonde is eager to expand Angela Hospice’s in-patient and at-home hospice, grief care services, and educational measures.

In Conclusion

The transition in leadership is certainly significant for Angela Hospice. However, the initial/community reaction reflects a collective trust in Jamie LaLonde’s ability to maintain Marti Coplai’s legacy and propel Angela Hospice into the future. The organization looks forward to its future development as it continues its mission to transform end-of-life care for individuals and their families.
