Woman Behind Oakland County Armed Robberies Arrested
Oakland County, MI – A woman aged 36 from West Bloomfield, a suburb of Detroit, is reportedly facing over a dozen felony charges after allegedly robbing multiple people at gunpoint within a few hours.
The Robbery Spree
It’s said that the authorities received an emergency 911 call at around 9 p.m. on Wednesday, from an employee of the Twin Beach Market on Green Lake Road. The worker reported that a woman had entered the market, brandishing a pistol, and had proceeded to rob him of cash before making her exit prior to anyone calling the cops.
Shortly after that incident, the police were inundated with additional calls about two other armed robberies in Orchard Lake and West Bloomfield. A witness at the CVS pharmacy in West Bloomfield indicated that the woman had even fired at least two gunshots.
The Arrest
The West Bloomfield officers responded swiftly and managed to apprehend the woman at the CVS parking lot before she could make another escape. The woman, identified as Kathryn Omalley Malczynski, now faces a string of charges stemming from her actions.
The Charges
Malczynski has been charged with seven counts of armed robbery, eight counts of felony firearm usage, one count of discharging a firearm in a building and one count of carrying a concealed weapon.
She was handed a bail bond set at $75,000 and for now, remains behind bars at the local jail. The community of Oakland County can breathe a little easier with the knowledge that the woman responsible for the armed robberies is now under custody. The investigation is ongoing.
