A Part of I-96 in Livonia Briefly Closed due to Road Rage Shooting
In what looked like a scene out of a movie, a portion of the well-trafficked eastbound I-96 in the city of Livonia was closed on a recent Friday night. This unexpected, temporary closure was due to a scary road rage shooting incident that happened near Middle Belt Road.
All traffic was diverted, with cars being rerouted onto eastbound Schoolcraft at the Middle Belt exit. From there, drivers could hop back onto the freeway at Inkster.
No reported injuries
Fortunately, amidst this jarring shakeup, it appears that no one was hurt. Police say two shots were fired on the freeway, but as of now, there are no reported injuries. It’s astonishing, considering the gravity of the incident, that everyone seems to have dodged a bullet, quite literally!
Freeway reopened
By approximately 10:15 p.m., the calm after the storm was mostly restored as officials from the Livonia police reported that the closure was lifted. Traffic started moving again as normalcy gradually returned.
Given the unexpected nature of incidents like this, it’s a reminder for everyone on the roadways to keep a cool head and prioritize safety. We will keep you updated as more information becomes available about the incident and the investigation into who is responsible.
