NBA Star to Open Chicken Place in Detroit Area
Detroit, get ready for a whole new chicken experience – a fast-food chicken chain co-founded by an NBA legend is set to open a new restaurant right here in town.
The spot is at 30130 Plymouth Road in Livonia and was formerly home to another celeb chef’s chicken restaurant which closed down earlier this summer. The new place is eyeing an opening date sometime in October.
This new joint is the brainchild of NBA great Shaquille O’Neal, known as Big Chicken. With its star player in the kitchen, the restaurant promises to serve up some serious culinary slam dunks. You already know they’re all about chicken—specifically, super-tasty fried chicken sandwiches, plus all the sides and shakes you could wish for.
A few mouth-watering options from their creative menu include: the “Shaq Attack”—a fried chicken sandwich with pepper jack cheese, jalapeño slaw, and spicy chipotle BBQ sauce—and “The Ultimate”, featuring fried chicken, mac and cheese, crispy fried onions, and roasted garlic BBQ aioli. Yum!
What’s more, this isn’t just a one-off. The Livonia restaurant is the first of about 20 planned Big Chicken locations set to open across Michigan, according to officials from the restaurant. There have already been two other openings in our state this year, one in Clio and another in Hartland.
So, Detroit, are you ready to face off against the Shaq Attack or try The Ultimate chicken sandwich? Your time is coming! Stay tuned for the exact opening date.
