Oakland County Unveils Its Community Calendar for September

Oakland County is geared up to host a flurry of events that cater to different community tastes, lined up for the month of September and beyond. From business activities and charitable ventures to community festivals, various occasions have been scheduled to accommodate a broad spectrum of interests in the community.

Business and Career Activities

Activities for career development for adults over 45 years are planned for September 9-25, scheduled to occur every Monday and Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon. A webinar focused on business diversification internationally is also set to take place on September 11 from 1-2 p.m.

Charitable Activities and Fundraisers

The first half of September will also see a collaboration between local clubs for a joint service event, aimed at helping vulnerable children in foster care. This community effort, which will run from September 3-20, calls for donations of new undergarments, socks, diapers, and pajamas.

An upcoming 4×4 Show & Shine to raise funds for local charity Haven of Oakland County is scheduled to start on September 7 at 8 a.m.

September 14 marks the day of the Forest to Table outdoor strolling dinner, with profits directed to support the Johnson Nature Center. The dining event starts at 5:30 p.m. and will feature local produce used in the preparation of a seven-course meal.

Community Events and Volunteer Opportunities

The month will kick off with the 4th annual award ceremony of the Southfield Police Department on September 4. To address growing concerns about scams, a seminar titled “Don’t Get Scammed” will be held on September 7.

The Clinton River Clean-Up events are organized for September 12 and 14 to contribute to nature conservation efforts. The participation is open to all interested community members.

Festivals

Several local festivals are also on the calendar. The Renaissance Festival will continue every weekend through September 29. The Soaring Eagle Arts, Beats & Eats festival and Michigan State Fair are set to run from August 30 until September 2.

Lectures

A series of lectures are planned for the period of 2024-2025, with the first lecture titled “First Ladies- Influence and Image,” on October 9.

Oakland County seems all set for an active and vibrant September and beyond. Its community calendar is packed with diverse activities, promising a refreshingly varied mix of experiences for its residents.
