A Humongous Inflatable Rubber Duck Wafts In Farmington For A Kind Cause

Hey there folks! You’ll never guess what happened in Farmington this week. A giant rubber duck, no not figuratively, but literally a six-story high inflatable duck took over Shiawassee Park! But don’t worry, it was all for a good cause.

The yellow bloomer isn’t just for giggles, but was part of a charity event organized by CARES, a community support agency based in Farmington Hills. They decided what better way to raise some funds for the local food pantry than to bring attention to the cause with a mammoth rubber ducky.

Apparently, this towering fellow weighs the same as 15 cars, and the owner insists it’s the ‘world’s largest duck’. Quite the sight this must have been, with the duck’s cheerful face grabbing the attention of all who passed by the park.

The main highlight of the event was a captivating rubber ducky race that took place in the Rouge River near the park. Brace yourselves now: Approximately 8,000 tiny rubber ducks were released into the river for the race on Wednesday. Unfortunately, the total funds collected from the event were not known as of Friday.

The funds raised in this event will significantly benefit CARES, which needs around $14,000 every month to buy food for distribution to roughly 750 families residing in various parts of Farmington and surrounding areas. CARES maintains a food pantry for families who require assistance and runs a small grocery store as well.

With such a feathered friend floating in our midst, who could resist contributing to such a noble cause!
