New American Eatery Bell Bistro Opens in Birmingham

Birmingham is buzzing with excitement as it welcomes Bell Bistro, a charming new restaurant that has taken over the iconic Mad Hatter space at 185 N. Old Woodward Ave. Located just across the street from the popular Emagine Palladium cinema, this delightful eatery is the latest offering from the talented folks at Cicero Hospitality Group, and it’s sure to become a favorite spot for locals and visitors alike.

A Restaurant with a Story

Bell Bistro pays homage to the original owner of the building, Samuel Oliver Wylie Bell, giving a nod to both the history of the space and its commitment to serving the community. The ambiance is definitely a talking point, thanks to a stylish redesign by Bowers + Associates from Ann Arbor. The 3,000-square-foot venue features a gorgeous modern bistro environment adorned with neutral wood finishes, subtle botanical elements, and beautiful arches that create a warm, inviting feeling.

Dig Into Delicious Dishes

When it comes to the menu, guests are in for a real treat curated by executive chef Gabriel Botezan, who is a proud graduate of Le Cordon Bleu and has left his mark on fine dining across metro Detroit. Bell Bistro offers a tantalizing array of American-style dishes that are perfect for any occasion. Start your meal with the exquisite Wagyu Meatball appetizer, or delve into the rich Rigatoni Alla Gricia. The menu also includes fan favorites like Steak Frites and the must-try Bell Smash Burger that are sure to have your taste buds dancing.

The culinary delights do not stop at the main dishes. Botezan’s wife, Gabriela Botezan, also a pastry chef, works alongside him to create a dessert menu that will satisfy any sweet tooth, featuring delightful items like Papanași, Parliament Walnut Cake, and the velvety Raspberry Chocolate Tart. Yes, please!

Drink Up!

There’s something for everyone to sip on at Bell Bistro too! The bar is stocked with a carefully selected range of craft cocktails, mocktails, local beers, and fine wines. Signature cocktails like The Bellerina and The Belfry are sure to add a splash of fun to your dining experience. Whether you’re in the mood to unwind after a long day or simply catch up with friends, you’ll find just the right drink to enhance your experience.

Perfect for Any Occasion

Whether you’re planning a casual mid-week dinner or you have a special event to celebrate, Bell Bistro is ready to accommodate. The main dining room can seat 36 guests comfortably, with an additional 12 seats at the bar and another 30 in the lower level. Private dining for up to 30 people is also available, making it the ideal spot for intimate gatherings.

Join the Bell Bistro Family

With the restaurant open Tuesday through Thursday from 4-10 p.m., and on Friday and Saturday from 4-11 p.m., night owls can also enjoy a late drink at the bar until midnight. Don’t forget to stop by on Sundays, as they will be welcoming diners from 4-10 p.m. The only day off? You guessed it—Mondays.

Final Thoughts

Randy Dickow, managing partner and food and beverage director for Cicero Hospitality Group, beautifully sums it up: “Bell Bistro is a celebration of exceptional service and hospitality, and our goal is to give each guest an experience that is as inviting and memorable as the food itself.” So, why wait? Swing by and check out what all the fuss is about. You won’t regret it!
