Garden City Residents Marvel at the Bostick Family’s Halloween Extravaganza
In the heart of Garden City, Michigan, the Bostick family has once again turned their home into a mesmerizing Halloween spectacle that has attracted onlookers from all over Metro Detroit. For the past five years, locals have been talking about the Bosticks’ dazzling decorations, and this year is no exception.
A Show of Lights and Sounds
Imagine driving through your neighborhood and being greeted by a breathtaking display of 15,000 lights, flickering in rhythm with an elaborate soundtrack that spans around an hour. That’s exactly what the Bostick home offers. “It all began when my wife sent me a clip of another house syncing their lights to our favorite Halloween song,” Kyle Bostick shared. He originally thought the idea was far too complicated to pull off, but his curiosity ignited a passion.
The Journey to a Halloween Tradition
Over time, what started as a simple experiment transformed into an impressive show that Kyle described as spiraling out of control. “We just kept adding more and more decorations,” he chuckled. “I want this! I want that!” And so, one light at a time, the family created a spectacle that now demands the attention of thousands.
A Herculean Effort
Setting up this elaborate display takes an incredible amount of work. “Every single light you see, we had to push in one at a time,” Kyle explained, showing off his blistered thumbs. The programming process was equally grueling, taking around 1,800 hours to perfect the 18-song playlist that accompanies the dazzling light show. From classic favorites like “Ghostbusters” and the eerily fun “Bloody Mary” from Wednesday, to the delightful strains of Disney’s “Boo to You”, the lineup is designed to keep viewers entertained and moving to the beat.
A Growing Community Celebration
According to Kyle, the impact of their decorations extends beyond their own home. “When we started, no other house on the street had any decorations. We probably had six trick-or-treaters,” he recalled. “Now, thousands of kids visit, and there are even busloads that come!” Inspired by the Bosticks, neighbors have also begun to embrace the spirit of Halloween, contributing to an entire street that buzzes with excitement.
Managing the Crowds
With all the excitement, there’s no denying that the foot and car traffic can be overwhelming. To help mitigate the congestion, the Bosticks have decided to limit their show’s schedule to Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights from 7 PM to 11 PM. “It’s a little chaotic, but so worth it to see everyone enjoying the show,” Kyle added with a smile.
Looking Ahead to Christmas
But the fun won’t end with Halloween! The Bosticks are gearing up to take their spectacular display on the road this upcoming Christmas season. “We’re going to have 250,000 lights for our Christmas show, covering three-quarters of a mile,” Kyle announced excitedly. “This one’s going to be metro Detroit’s only synchronized light show. It’s going to be insane!”
What to Expect
For those who can’t wait for the dazzling holiday lights, the Bostick’s Halloween display will come down shortly after the holiday, but not to worry – the Christmas drive-thru display is set to open on November 22 and tickets will be available for purchase soon. So, keep your eyes peeled for the chance to witness this incredible transformation!
