Exciting Times Await at 2024 Michigan State Fair, Starting Thursday in Novi

Get ready, Michigan! The 2024 Michigan State Fair is kicking off this Thursday, promising a fun-filled, action-packed experience to mark the end of summer with style.

The fair is setting up at the Suburban Collection Showcase at 46100 Grand River Ave, Novi. You can enjoy this five-day extravaganza filled with various activities, from a fresh farmer’s market to a thrilling circus, and a unique beer festival among other attractions.

When and Where?

The event will commence on Thursday, August 29, and continue through Monday, September 2. The timings are as follows – 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. from Thursday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Monday.

Ticket Information

Tickets are affordably priced at $10 for general admission and free for kids aged 2 or under. Purchasing an Ultimate admission ticket costing $42 will offer free access to unlimited carnival rides and circus performances. You can also upgrade your general admission ticket at the venue itself by paying an extra $37. Carnival ride tickets can also be bought individually at the fair for $1.50 each, 22 for $30 or a family combo of 50 tickets for $60.

Highlights of the Fair

The Flagstar Farmer’s Market will be a fresh addition to the fair. It offers you a chance to buy produce, handcrafted products, and artisanal snacks from local Michigan farmers.

Don’t miss the Detroit Shrine Circus, which is making a comeback with three to four shows daily. If you’re feeling competitive, get your oven mitts on for the adult and youth cookie baking contest happening on Saturday, August 31, and a cake and cupcake baking contest by King Arthur flour for adults and children respectively on Sunday, September 1.

For the more altruistic visitors, there will be a daily blood donation drive conducted by Versiti Blood Center of Michigan. Donors aged 17 and above (or 16 with parental consent) and weighing at least 110 pounds (or 120 for girls aged 18 and under) can participate. All donors will receive a free admission ticket to the fair and a $10 Kroger gift card.

On Friday, August 30, there will be a beer festival called “Friday Night Flights” from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets for the event priced at $20 will provide fair admission, VIP entry to the event, and ten drink coupons.

Remember to have fun, keep yourself hydrated, be respectful of others around you, and let this long weekend bring an end to your summer on a high note.
